What is The LOST Escape Room?

The LOST Escape Room is a fun, new, immersive entertainment concept. It is a real-life game designed for small groups of people. Your goal is simple: work together as a team, testing your wits and skills, to escape from a themed locked room. Each room has a storyline, and you are placed in the story. While the goal is simple, the game is challenging. Getting through the locked door will require finding clues, solving puzzles, cracking codes, and working together. There are many escape games worldwide and in the US. The LOST Escape Room has two locations now, one in downtown Huntington, WV and the other in Cross Lanes, WV which is only 15 minutes from Charleston, WV.

Am I really going to be “locked” in a room?

Yes and no. Your safety is our top priority. You will be in a room with a locked door, but you can unlock the door quickly from the inside. (This door is not the door you seek to win the game.) Should you feel the need to leave the room, you are welcome to do so at any time; however, the clock keeps ticking for others in the room.

Are the rooms “scary”?

We are not a haunted house. Our rooms are fun, challenging, and intense. Pressure can mount as the time ticks down, and it can get a little crazy in the rooms! Think of it as being in a movie or story that you have to finish! If a game is scary, it will be noted in the general description of the room.

What if I’m claustrophobic?

They are normal sized rooms and can look like a normal room with hidden items and a scenario to play out. You aren’t in a maze or a closet, and you will have ample space to move around.

Are there cameras and microphones in the rooms?

Yes, we have cameras and microphones in every room to monitor your experience and help you along the way.

What happens if we “get stuck”?

We will be monitoring your progress throughout the escape game. Our game masters will provide some clues if you get stuck; after all, we want you to have fun! Remember, it’s not only about trying to escape the room, it’s about the full experience. Some groups will escape, others won’t. But either way, we want you to have a blast!

What happens if we don’t escape in 60 minutes?

We will let you out, promise.

How do I book a game?

It is best to book your game online to guarantee a game and time. We do accept walk-ins if a game is not already reserved and spots are available at that time.

Is there a limit to the number of players?

Our games have a minimum of 2 players and a maximum of 8 players. (The Time Keeper is 6-8 max)

Will I be playing with other participants?

It depends. If you want to play with friends, you can book an entire room and invite friends to join you! However, many people say that some of their favorite escape experiences are when they play with people they don’t know. Go ahead, try it! It’s a great way to make new friends... very fast! To book an entire room, you will need to purchase the maximum capacity for that specific game room. Be sure to check the availability for any game you wish to purchase to ensure there are enough spaces still available for your group.

Do I really need to book in advance?

We strongly recommend booking a reservation online. We can’t guarantee a spot unless you’ve booked ahead of time.

How much do your games cost?

Games are $25 per person plus tax and booking fee. Click the BOOK NOW button from any page to see dates, times, and availabilities for any game. Games may be added or time slots deleted based on demand for the day.  No games reserved will be deleted or changed with the exception of inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances and in which case we will contact you. All games closed due to bad weather or other unforeseen circumstances will be rescheduled at your convenience.  Mother Nature can affect us all and we are totally understanding of this.

How do I pay?

All games are paid online at the time of booking to ensure your spot or at the welcome desk for walk-ins. We accept credit/debit cards online through a secure booking site and credit/debit cards or cash for walk-ins. Cards are charged at the time of reservation. You may call ahead and reserve a game however we will need a credit card to put on file. If you are a no show, your card will be charged. No checks accepted.

Do you have parking?

There is a parking garage directly across the street and also some nearby street parking as well as a parking lot behind us in Huntington (some parking is metered parking and some free parking). There is a parking lot directly in front of our door in the Kanawha location (free parking).

Is there an age limit?

Our games are designed for adults and recommended for ages 16 and up. Players age 15 and under must be accompanied by a paying adult. Children under the age of 12 are permitted only if your group is booking the entire room. Other groups of adults may not wish to play with younger children. All rooms are appropriate in content for all ages, but the complexity of the rooms and puzzles could be too difficult for some. A parent or guardian must sign a release of liabilty waiver for anyone under that age of 18. We do not recommend the games, Patient XV Returns or The Legend for ages under 16.

Are the games handicap accessible?

For the most part, yes. We feel anyone could play our games. There may be an item out of reach, for instance, but that is when another player can grab it. To escape, it takes teamwork. If you need assistance, we can help.

Can you accommodate large parties or corporate events?

Yes, we accommodate large parties (birthdays, bachelor/bachelorette, etc.) and corporate groups frequently, and rooms can be reserved online. If you would like help booking your large group event or would like to rent out our facility at a premium, please email us at [email protected] to receive a custom quote.

Is an escape room a good team building experience?

Yes! We actually have a team building program with analysis. It is a very good tool to help work together closer than ever before. Visit the team building page for more information.

How long is each game?

Each game is designed for one hour of intense fun! Plan to spend 15 minutes prior to each game preparing and briefing, and 15 minutes after each game to debrief and take photos. Prepare for at least 90 minutes! (Exception - the mobile game is 30 minutes).

What time should I arrive and do I need to bring anything with me?

Please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to your booking for prep and briefing. We do have to keep a very strict schedule, so if you arrive late you may not receive the full 60 minutes in your room. If you have a group or party, please make sure everyone arrives 15 minutes early. You do not need to bring anything with you except friends and the anticipation of fun! We will provide some clues within the rooms to help you try to escape. Before your game, we'll ask you to fill out a quick waiver.

What if there are issues during the escape experience?

Our Gamemasters are exactly that, masters of the game. They will help you as much as possible but it is also at their discretion as to what corrective actions are needed. If players are disruptive, destruction, or in an altered state of mind, they can and will be removed from the game immediately. We do have video and audio of every game to monitor the experience for the safety of all customers, so remember they can see and hear you at all times.

Can I take videos or pictures in the rooms?

Sorry, but we ask that you refrain from taking photos or videos in our escape rooms. We own the content in the rooms and the stories. We want to keep our rooms as unique as possible. You can take pictures in the designated areas only (lobby and prep room/party room).

Do you offer refunds?

All of our games are non-refundable. However, we can reschedule your game if you contact us at least 24 hours prior to your game start time.

Where are you located?

The Huntington location is in downtown Huntington and the address is 300 Eighth Street, Huntington WV, 25701. We are in the building that is diagonally across the street from the Big Sandy Superstore Arena, one block from Pullman Square.  (Be careful when using a GPS so that it doesn't take you to another location and that you are headed towards downtown Huntington). The Kanawha location address is 314 Goff Mountain Road, Cross Lanes, WV 25313 (only 15 minutes from Charleston, WV). We are just off exit 47B if you are traveling eastbound on Interstate 64. It is exit 47 if you are traveling westbound on Interstate 64 and we are mere seconds from the exit. Look for the Wendy's on your right as soon as you get off the interstate and you will see our building.

Do you offer gift cards to purchase?

How hard are the games?

The games are challenging or you would be able to get out quickly, which is no fun. If everyone escaped, it would also not be fun. Our success rate for escaping the rooms are estimated from 15% to 45%, depending on the game. You will be able to see which games are the hardest and easiest by reading over the summary and rating of each room. There are things in the rooms that most people have not seen before. All puzzles can be solved from inside the rooms with no outside help.

So the games are challenging, but are they fun?

Yes, definitely. You are part of the story, like being Indiana Jones or Sherlock Holmes. In a world that has gone digital, it feels good to do something in real life with friends!
